Aspen Seminar Alumni Meeting “Leadership and Values for Youth”
Aspen Institute Spain held last Tuesday, October 29th a session for Alumni of the Aspen Seminar “Leadership and Values for youth” on “New technologies, media and the rise of populism: is liberal democracy in crisis in Europe?” with the participation of Iñaki Ellakuria, delegate of El Mundo in Catalonia. The debate-colloquium brought together participants from all editions of the seminar (2018-2024), an excellent opportunity to meet again and to get to know other participants of the Seminar. The session was moderated by Antonio Delgado, Secretary General of ESADE and Aspen España Fellow.
Before the debate, participants could enjoy a guided tour of the Gabriel García Márquez Library, where the session took place.
Iñaki Ellakuria
Iñaki Ellakuria is a columnist, editor-in-chief and delegate of EL MUNDO in Catalonia. Since 2006, he has been editor of the Politics section of La Vanguardia. Winner of the 2006 King of Spain International Journalism Prize for his investigation, together with La Vanguardia journalist Eduardo Martín de Pozuelo, into the ‘declassified US documents’. Co-author of the book ‘La guerra ignorada’ (Editorial Debate). He has also been editor of the International, Opinion and People sections of La Vanguardia . He has worked for the Barcelona branch of the newspaper ABC, for the EFE agency, for the cultural magazine El Ciervo and for the magazine Ab.
Antonio Delgado
He is Secretary General of ESADE and Professor of Commercial Law, specialising in Corporate Governance and Intellectual Property. He began his professional career as a lawyer in the telecommunications sector, at the time of the liberalisation of the sector. He assumed various responsibilities in the AUNA group and, later on, in ONO, where he was in charge of the consultancy of the Territorial Delegation of Catalonia and Aragon. In 2007, he joined the Electronic Banking and New Technologies Area of ‘la Caixa’, as a specialist in the field, and in 2009 he took charge of the Legal Services of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, where he was particularly involved in legal advice on the development of innovation and, in particular, the transfer of research results. He has been president of the Círculo Ecuestre de Barcelona and a member of various boards of trustees and social impact initiatives.
