Diálogos Aspen – Fundación Mutualidad de la Abogacía
Aspen Institute España, in collaboration with the Fundación Mutualidad de la Abogacía, will host a new Aspen dialogue on “Leadership, Justice and Values” next Wednesday, September 18. The discussion will be led by two Aspen España Fellows: Román Gil, managing partner at Sagardoy Abogados and former member of the Governing Board of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM), and Lara Jiménez de Parga, Legal Design Researcher and PhD candidate in Philosophy of Law at the University of Barcelona. They will gather a group of young lawyers to explore topics inspired by two or three pre-selected texts, drawn from both classical and contemporary authors. These readings will spark a conversation about the value of Justice and the interplay between public policies and fundamental rights.
The session aims to establish a dialogue on the role and challenges of lawyers in modern society, emphasizing their influence beyond mere legal practice. Lawyers, as prominent members of the community, have the knowledge and platform to contribute to the greater good. Today, the concept of the “Citizen Lawyer” reaches beyond legal systems and diverse economic environments. It should be deeply embedded in the identity of law firms to attract and retain talent, and to shape the education of future generations of lawyers.
