Democracy and the Media in Crisis?

 

On October 25, Aspen Institute España hosted a new session of Aspen Ideas@Lunch, presented by José Ignacio Torreblanca, director of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) in Madrid and columnist for El Mundo, and moderated by Cristina Manzano, director of Esglobal.

The topic of this session was “Democracy and the Media in Crisis?

Aspen Ideas@Lunch is a forum for discussion on leadership and public policies for leaders from different sectors of the society, many of whom have already participated in Aspen Institute España programs. On the occasion of the publication of books or important events, we bring together a group of 30 participants to discuss with the best experts issues such as geopolitics, new technologies, leadership, energy or the international economy.

José Ignacio Torreblanca (@jitorreblanca), Head of ECFR’s Madrid office and Senior Policy Fellow, was the first Head of ECFR’s Madrid office since the launch of ECFR across Europe in 2007 until June 2016 when he was appointed as Editorial Director of El Pais.

Cristina Manzano (@ManzanoCr) is director of Esglobal. She is a columnist for El Periódico de Cataluña, has a blog in the Spanish edition of the Huffington Post and is a frequent contributor to various media.
