On the 4th and 5th of October, 2013, Aspen Institute España and the University Carlos III in Madrid  celebrated a seminar on Spain titled “A conversation on the present and future of Spain” in Barcelona.

The obejctive of the seminar is to facilitate a space where participants can reflect and converse on frontier issues on the economy, politics, and society in Spain.  With the help of Professor Juan Urrutia, the seminar brought together 50 invididuals from diverse backgrounds for roundtable debates on “The Spanish model in a global economy,” “innovating political representation and government structures,” and “Strategies for education and political sciences” guided through by experts Antonio Cabrales, Economics Professor,  University College London, Pablo Beramendi, Professor of Economics and Politics at Duke University, and Elias Fereres, Professor of Agricultural Engineering, Universidad de Córdoba, and moderated by Michele Boldrin, Executive Director at FEDEA, and Economics Professor at Washington University, Ignacio Sánchez Cuenca, Director at the Instituto Carlos III-Juan March de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Political Sciences Professor, and Violeta Demonte, Spanish Language Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
