Following his talk at Fundación Diario Madrid on his recent book “The Light that Failed: A Reckoning”, organized in collaboration with ECFR Madrid and Harvard Club of Spain, we asked Ivan Krastev, author, political scientist, permanent fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, and a widely regarded expert on Balkan and European affairs, to sit down with us for an interview.  He responded to a few questions on why countries reject Western liberalism, and how the wave of populist xenophoia comes from the Occidentalizing imperative that followed the fall of the Berlin wall.
