José M. de Areilza
Secretario General / Secretary General
José M. de Areilza is Secretary General of the Aspen Institute España. He is a Professor and Jean Monnet Chair at ESADE Business School, Barcelona, with a double appointment in the Department of Law and in the Department of General Management and Strategy. This year he is a Visiting Professor at INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau campus.  He has been an Adviser on European and North American affairs in the Spanish Prime Minister’s Office. He writes a weekly column on international affairs in the newspaper ABC. He is Academy Adjunct Faculty at the Royal Institute of International Affairs -Chatham House, London, and Member of the European Council on Foreign Relations. He serves as President of the British-Spanish Forum (UK-Spain Forum) and as Trustee of the Spanish Navy Museum.  José M. de Areilza holds a LL.B. degree with Special Graduation Prize from Complutense University of Madrid, a Doctorate Juridical Sciences (SJD) and a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard University and Master in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. In 1991 he was admitted to the New York Bar.

Isabel Cruz-Conde Zino
Program Manager
Isabel joined Aspen Institute España in September 2013. She holds a Degree in Journalism from Universidad CEU San Pablo and an Executive Media MBA from Universidad de Navarra. She has worked for two years as a writer and editor for the gastronomical magazine Club de Gourmets, coordinating the Press Department of Grupo Gourmets (first publishing company in Spain specialized in gastronomy) and Salon de Gourmets (the major European international fine food and beverage fair), where she was also responsible for the website and the Social Networks of the group. Isabel has previously worked at Christie’s and LVMH Watches and Jewelry. She speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Santiago Liniers Martínez
Program Manager
Santiago joined Aspen Institute España in May 2014. Santiago holds a Masters in International Relations at the University Institute for European Studies from the CEU San Pablo University and a Degree in Journalism form the CEU San Pablo University. Previously, he studied Political Science and the Palestinian and Arabic Studies Program at Bir Zeit University, in Palestine. He has worked at the press department of the Elcano Royal Institute, at the graphic department of the Agencia EFE and has done voluntary work at the Palestinian Agricultural Union in Hebron, the West Bank. He speaks Spanish, English and has basic knowledge of Arabic.

Nika Prislan
Program Manager
Nika Prislan joined Aspen Institute España as Program Manager in September 2018. Previously she worked as Advisor in the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Relations with the Parliament at the Ministry of the Presidency and for Territorial Administrations in Spain. She has also worked as Program Coordinator and Project Coordinator of Europe’s Digital Power at the Madrid office of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) and Parliamentary Advisor for the European Union and Foreign Affairs at the Spanish Congress of Deputies. Nika holds an M.A. in International Politics & Europe from the University of Warwick and a B.A. in European Studies & Politics from the University of Essex. She speaks Spanish, English, Slovene and Polish and has basic knowledge of German and Russian.

Gabriela Aznar Blanes
Executive Assistant
Gabriela joined Aspen Institute España in October 2015. She has studied Tourism at the University of Seville and holds a Master Degree in Congress, Conventions and PCO Companies Organization form the UEM (European University of Madrid). She has worked at the NH Eurobulding of Madrid organizing events, and during the last three years she has lived in Chile where he has been organizing and coordinating medical congresses in Eventual Chile. She speaks Spanish, English, and has basic knowledge of French.

Montse Julián Cabeza
Program Assistant
Montse joined Aspen Institute España as Program Assistant in June 2018. She holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Navarra, a Master Degree in Corporate and Politic Communications from the same university, and a four-weeks political affairs program at the School of Political Management at the George Washington University . She has worked in reputation and crisis department as a trainee in two communication agencies: Burson-Marsteller and Atrevia, in the comunication and institutional relations department of Inditex as a trainee and at El Mundo País Vasco. She speaks english and spanish.
