Seminario de Política Global 2024
Aspen Institute España held a new edition of the Aspen Global Policy Seminar: “Europe, Leadership, and Values” from November 22 to 23 in Manzanares (Ciudad Real), moderated by Juan Moscoso del Prado, former PSOE member of parliament and head of the Department of International Relations and External Action at the Economic and Social Council, and Crista Ruiz de Arana, a PhD in Psychology and clinical psychologist; both are Aspen Spain Fellows.
This seminar brings together a group of 25 young political leaders from different parties for two days to discuss the political and social dilemmas arising in the global landscape we live in. The debate is structured around texts from classical and contemporary authors and will, following the Aspen method, facilitate an open and frank exchange of ideas and reflections for action and commitment to different ideas of the common good. The dialogue follows the Chatham House Rule.
It aims to provide a forum for debate among individuals with a political vocation and a commitment to public service, who have demonstrated leadership potential. The program is structured around a seminar and four sessions throughout the year, following the Aspen Dialogue method.
Global Politics Seminar
This seminar is part of the Global Policy Program organized by Aspen Institute España as part of its commitment to democratic values and its vocation to create spaces for debate. It provides a pluralistic environment where each participant in this setting can explore, over a year, diverse topics such as geopolitics, ethics and leadership, or international economics. This space also facilitates the building of personal relationships among participants that go beyond political affiliations, which are crucial for finding common ground and innovative solutions to the problems facing our country.
Over the years, some of the leading figures of our political parties have participated in this Program. Additionally, more than 40 speakers have participated in our sessions, including Javier Solana, President of Aspen Institute Spain; Hugo Dixon, journalist, entrepreneur, president of InFacts, and founding member of the People’s Vote campaign; Robin Wright, journalist and international political analyst; Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary General of SEGIB; Pablo García-Berdoy, former Spanish Ambassador to Germany and current Permanent Representative of Spain to the European institutions; Robin Niblett, Director of Chatham House; Oscar Fanjul, Vice President of Omega Capital and member of the Board of Aspen Institute España.
