International Committee Meeting
On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, Aspen Institute España hosted the International Committee Meeting from 23 to 26 April 2026 in a setting of outstanding historical and natural significance: La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia). This international gathering brought together representatives from the Aspen Institutes around the world in a program designed to strengthen connections among international partners and explore new opportunities for collaboration. The Aspen network today connects 13 International Partners across 16 countries, including Central Europe, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Romania, Spain, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the Africa Initiative-Nairobi. More than 100 participants from different Aspen partners gathered over the weekend.
The inaugural colloquium and dinner counted with the participation of His Majesty King Felipe VI alongside national, regional and local authorities. The program opened with the colloquium titled Leading for the Common Good in 2026, with Elliot Gerson, Senior Fellow at the Aspen Institute and the former Executive Vice President at the Aspen Institute, Vivian Schiller, VP & Executive Director of Aspen Digital, Pablo Hernández de Cos, General Manager of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), and Enrique Berruga Filloy, Executive Director of Aspen Institute Mexico.
The program included working sessions and a Leadership Seminar moderated by Miguel Herrero de Jáuregui, Professor of Greek Philology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Aspen España Fellow, and William E. Mayer, founder of Park Avenue Equity Partners.
All events were held in emblematic venues such as the Royal Palace of La Granja and the historic Centro Guardia de Corps building. Over the course of these days, participants shared moments of reflection, cultural visits, and informal encounters that contributed to strengthening a global network committed to the common good. Accommodation was be provided at the Casa de los Infantes, an 18th-century building now part of Spain’s National Parador network.
