Economic reforms for reactivation

On Tuesday, June 23, we held the 10th Aspen Ideas Online, a series of debates about our changing environment.

The session was entitled “Economic reforms for reactivation” and was moderated by María Sicilia, Director of Strategy at Enagás and Aspen España Fellow.

The speakers were J. Ignacio Conde-Ruiz, visiting professor at Esade, professor of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis at the Complutense University of Madrid and deputy director of the Foundation for Applied Economics Studies and José Ramón Iturriaga, Fund Manager at Abante Asesores and Aspen España Fellow.

Based on their reflections, a group of prominent businessmen, managers, politicians, senior officials, academics and representatives of the third sector discussed how the Covid-19 crisis is affecting the Spanish and European economy, the possible bases for the recovery of labor markets, how the EU economy is expected to react to economic stimuli and the proposals made from Brussels in recent months and the reforms necessary for a post-Covid-19 reactivation of the Spanish economy.

Four readings were recommended that we would like to share with you:

  1. Martin Wolf, How Covid-18 will change the world
  2. Anatole Kaletky, Europe’s Hamiltonian Moment
  3. Alfonso Novales, Crisis y confianza
