Managing a global health crisis

On Tuesday, May 5th, we held our fourth Aspen Ideas Online session, within the series of debates that we are organizing about our changing environment.

The session was titled “Managing a global health crisis” and Pedro Alonso, Director of the World Malaria Program of the World Health Organization and Professor at the University of Barcelona, ​​intervened as a speaker and was moderated by Laura Padrón, Senior Researcher at GlaxoSmithKline and Aspen Spain Fellow.

Based on their reflections, a group of prominent businessmen, executives, politicians, senior officials, academics and representatives of the third sector discussed how the health crisis caused by COVID-19 is being managed internationally. During the debate, issues related to the possibilities and limits of international cooperation to face the crisis, the role of the World Health Organization and the similarities and differences between this pandemic and those that had occurred in the past were discussed.
